An eighteen year-old fighter of Maute ISIS remnants surrendered to 49th Infantry “Good Samaritan” Battalion of the Joint Task Force Ranao in Butig, Lanao del Sur Monday.
Alias @ASNOR was 14 years old when he was recruited by the late Maute ISIS leader Abdullah Maute in the year 2014 together with other 12 minors.
“Nine years old was their youngest recruit and Asnor was involved in an armed engagement with government forces in the month of February and November of 2016,” said Lt. Col Edgar Allan Villanueva, 49th Infantry Battalion Commander.
After the two engagements, Asnor decided to lie low.
Custodial debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.
Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan commander, commended the efforts of troops that facilitated the young fighter to surrender.
“We are glad to hear that Asnor decided to surrender and this is the best chance for him to return to mainstream society and achieve his aspiration,” Maj.Gen. Murillo said. 1ST INFANTRY (TABAK) DIVISION
