“It means also that Vietnam is risking an armed hostility between the two countries and risking the lives of their people,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told Malacañang press commenting on Vietnam’s way of handling dispute with China.
Vietnam and China are reportedly engaged in a standoff in an oil-rich area in the South China Sea.
“They can do that, but there is always risk – something disastrous,” he added.
Secretary Panelo said that President Rodrigo Duterte will not take risk. “Rather than risk, the best method pa rin to solve the problem is through negotiation, diplomatic negotiations,” Panelo said.
