Security & Defense

Philippine Navy landing platform dock BRP Tarlac (LD-601) is now officially the first Philippine Navy ship to dock in a Russian port.

The Russian Navy welcomed BRP Tarlac in Vladivostok, Russia today.

Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert A. Empedrad said during the send off of the said ship that this historic undertaking is a demonstration of a “Navy that is now capable to extend its reach to conduct maritime patrol beyond our borders.”

“The bold attempt for the first time a ship to visit Russia and the subsequent participation to the IFR in South Korea are manifestations of our deliberate intentions to explore and conquer uncharted territories,” Empedrad added.

After the Russian visit, BRP Tarlac will proceed to Jeju Island, South Korea for the International Fleet Review (IFR).
