The twin-engine Bell 429 GlobalRanger helicopter ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) from Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. was spotted by a MaxDefense Philippines community member. Photos of the said helicopter were uploaded in MaxDefense Philippines’ Facebook page.
It was reported in January that 3 pilots and 4 helicopter repair and maintenance experts from PNP Special Action Force (SAF) Air Unit were training at Bell Training Academy in Fort Worth, Texas, United States.
The training focused on how to operate and maintain Bell 429 GlobalRanger helicopter.
PNP chief Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa issued the Notice to Proceed for the said procurement in July 2017 with contract price of PHP435,797,548.00.
According to PNP Chief of Directorial Staff Police Deputy Director General Archie Gamboa, official delivery of the helicopter is expected this month.
The PNP is also in the process of acquiring a number of new single engine turbine helicopters.
