The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has celebrated its “Balik Basa 2018” on October 24. The event marked the return of 5th Fighter Wing after seven decades to Basa Air Base, also known as Fighter Town, in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

PAF said that in front of the Wing’s newly constructed 4-bay hangar overlooking the newly refurbished runway, the crowd was treated to an aerial display which formally signaled the return of Basa’s glory days.

“Utilizing the FA-50PH aircraft that was so instrumental in last year’s Marawi crisis, the 5FW’s best pilots treated the crowd with an amazing and breathtaking display of aerial prowess and skill,” it added.

“Performing maneuvers that showcased the FA-50PH’s superior handling and capabilities as well as the skill of our daring pilots, the birds of Basa tore through the sky and captured the collective imagination of everyone on the ground,” PAF said.
