Pag-asa Island beaching ramp 60% complete

Security & Defense

“The [construction] of the beaching ramp has been intermittent because of bad weather and the contractor cannot bring in the construction materials,” National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said at the 45th founding anniversary celebration of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines on July 5.

“But it is now 60-percent finished and we expect the beaching ramp to be finished by the end of this year,” he noted.

Secretary Lorenzana said at the Pilipinas Conference 2018 on December 7 that as part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) effort to protect the national territory and uphold sovereignty, the construction of a beaching ramp and mooring bollard in Pag-asa Island was initiated.

“When completed, these will facilitate the transport of materials for repair and concreting of the airstrip,” Secretary Lorenzana said.
