NPA burns equipment in Mindoro hydro power plant

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) condemned the burning of heavy equipment, vehicles and other facilities of the Santa Clara Hydro Power Plant in Barangay Malvar, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro perpetrated by NPA aroung 4:30 p.m. February 26.

“The AFP strongly condemns this cowardly and treacherous attack on civilians especially that they (the people) stand to benefit from the electrification that the project will bring to the community. To gain access to the company premises, the communist terrorists posed as government security forces by wearing military and police uniforms,” the AFP said.

It added that the attackers belonging to MRGU, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee deprived the people of the opportunity to live in a barangay powered by electricity where the children may enjoy some amenities to advance their learning and education.

According to Kalinaw News, the following were the equipment burned by the NPA: 3 Volvo articulated dump truck, 1 backhoe, 2 KIA service vehicles, 1 fuel truck, 2, SK truck, 2 loader, 2 transit mixer, 1 mobile crane, 1 crawler crane, 1 batching plant and 1 crushing plant.


Theey also looted 4 laptops, 12 handheld radios, 2 cellphones, 1 shotgun and 1 9mm pistol.
