New assets to be commissioned in upcoming Navy anniv

Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad said that the service is satisfied with the outcome of First Horizon of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program during an interview with DWDD on March 11.

Vice Admiral Empedrad also noted that the upcoming anniversary of Navy will see commissioning of new capabilities.

He said that the 2 ordered AW-159 “Wildcat” anti-submarine helicopters from Leonardo formerly AgustaWestland, and the 4 of 8 ordered amphibious assault vehicles (AAVs) from South Korean Hanwha Techwin formerly Samsung Techwin will be delivered in May.

He said the anti-submarine helicopters equipped with missile and torpedo systems will arrive on May 14. He added that the four AAVs will also be delivered in May.


“So pag dating ng Navy anniversary we have so many capabilities that will be blessed and be commissioned in the naval service,” Vice Admiral Empedrad said.
