The Philippine Navy’s two new AW-159 “Wildcat” anti-submarine helicopters are scheduled for commissioning and blessing on May 27 during the 121st founding anniversary celebration of Philippine Navy.

The said helicopters arrived, via airfreight, today, May 7. The helicopters were manufactured by Leonardo, formerly AgustaWestland, in UK.

“These helicopters will give the PN the capability to detect and locate submarines due to its sonar capabilities,” Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad said as quoted by PNA.
