On January 29, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the destruction of Abu Sayyaf terrorist organization using whatever means, the military launched at least two air strikes in Sulu.

GMA News Online cited Marisol Abdurahman’s report over “24 Oras” saying the military launched one airstrike in Patikul and another in Indanan after members of the Abu Sayyaf were sighted.

“We are utilizing all the military, our every might, dito sa…pagtugis nitong mga sa Abu Sayyaf. Wala namang ano ito, yung intensity, as intense as before,” said Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brigadier General Divino Rey Pabayo said.

“I ordered you to destroy the organization. I’m ordering you now: pulpugin ninyo ang Abu Sayyaf by whatever means,” President Duterte said on January 28 when he visited Jolo, Sulu, a day after the bombing of Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Jolo.

“Meron man tayong helicopter, may eroplano, may mga barko.

Iwasan hanggang ano,” he added.

Tapos plantsahin ninyo ng bala pati,” he said.
