The Filipinos’ low trust rating on China and high trust rating on United States of America, as shown by Pulse Asia survey, is understandable, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
However, the presidential spokesperson said that in the long run, the Filipino people may see China’s sincerity.
“[T]hat it’s understandable for Filipino’s to feel that way. Because ngayon pa lang eh. We have been used to the States being our ally, so mas sanay tayo sa Amerika,” Panelo said.
“But siguro as we go along at nakita na iyong sincerity ng China with respect to agreements between the two countries, eh baka mabago iyong kanilang pananaw,” he added.
A Pulse Asia survey conducted December 14 to 21on 1,800 respondents nationwide showed that United States has 84 percent trust rating. The survey also showed that Japan has 75 percent rating, Australia with 72 percent, and United Kingdom with 57 percent.
Russia and China got 45 percent and 39 percent, respectively.
