Japanese destroyer arrives in Subic

Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Murasame-class destroyer JS Samidare (DD-106) arrived at the Alava Wharf Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in Olongapo City on Friday, May 17 for a goodwill visit. The visit will be until May 19.

JS Samidare has two SH-60K patrol helicopters and 200 officers and enlisted personnel aboard.

“I believe that this visit will make a great contribution to further strengthen relations between our two countries,” said Capt. Takahiro Nishiyama, Commander of JMSDF Escort Division Four, as quoted by Inquirer.net.
