National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said during his interview with GMA News resident analyst Richard Heydarian on May 27 that Japan is willing to help Philippines develop its defense capabilities.
Secretary Lorenzana noted that among the possible equipment Japan may sell is their latest radar system.
“Japan actually is willing to help us improve our defense capabilities. They have given us secondhand TC-90s – for surveillance,” Lorenzana said.
“I think now they are trying to sell us their latest radar systems. We are looking at five systems to be procured from them,” he added.
“The Japanese are actually producing aircraft, they are still looking at the constitution if they can transfer those heavy equipment to us. They have already transferred the TC-90s but these are actually parang civilian hindi military hardware. So let’s see how this pans out,” Secretary Lorenzana explained.
