The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has conducted a communication drill with the Japanese Coast Guard.
“Philippine Coast Guard and Japan Coast Guard hold communication exercise involving BRP Cape San Agustin, BRP Bagacay and [Japanese] patrol ship Echigo at Basilan Strait,” the PCG said.
It noted that the scenario simulates reporting of a piracy incident in the area and the subsequent response.
“PCG and JCG will culminate the exercise on Friday in Manila Bay involving 200 Philippine Coast Guard and Japan Coast Guard personnel,” PCG said.
The culminating activity in Manila will involved 3 PCG capital ships and patrol ship Echigo.
