Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL, the builder of Philippine Navy’s two Tarlac-class landing platform docks also known as strategic sealift vessels (SSV), is eyeing to supply two more SSV’s to Philippines this time under the Second Horizon of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program.

According to PT PAL’s Budiman Saleh, as reported by Indonesian Kumparan, President Rodrigo Duterte was satisfied with the performance of the two SSV’s ordered under the First Horizon of AFP Modernization Program.

Saleh noted that Duterte was happy specially with the performance of the ships during the Marawi siege.

Meanwhile, MaxDefense Philippines confirmed that based on the approved Horizon 2 Priority Projects, the Philippine Navy is scheduled to acquire two more Strategic Sealift Vessels with a proposed ABC of Php5 billion.

“This is 20% larger than the ABC of the first batch of SSV won by PT PAL in 2014,” MaxDefense added.
