Naval Task Group (NTG) 88, the Philippine Navy’s (PN) participating contingent to the first-ever ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise (ACMEX) 2018, actively joined the different Shore Sub-Phase activities which began in Zhanjiang, Guandong, China on October 22 as preliminary stage of the week-long ACMEX 2018.

Components from NTG 88 took part in the Diving Operations and Seminar Exchange conducted at the People’s Liberation Army-Navy (PLA-N) Diving Operations Center for the Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG) team, wherein the PLA-N divers showcased their sophisticated underwater equipment and shared necessary skills.

PN’s medical team also attended the medical seminar exchange at the PLA No. 422 Hospital, which featured PLA military physicians emphasizing their resilience on natural healing methods in complement to the modern medical procedures.

On the other hand, preparations for the upcoming Sea Sub-Phase activities such as radio checks, flight deck familiarization, pre-sail brief and safety regulations briefing were conducted to ensure cohesiveness and seamless communication among the members of multilateral task force.

The PN’s participation in these activities has significantly widened the personnel’s horizon in terms of skillset while establishing mutual and effective relationship among ASEAN co-member states and China. PHILIPPINE NAVY
