President Rodrigo Duterte today visited the January 27 Jolo bombing blast site at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.
The President also visited families of the bombing victims.
The said bombing killed 20 including five soldiers, one coast guard, and 14 civilians. It also wounded 97: 15 soldiers, 2 coast guard personnel, and 78 civilians.
Earlier today, prior to President Duterte’s visit, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte was so angry. “He is so disappointed that despite the movement to thread the path towards peace and development, there are still certain forces in that region who sowed terror and killed and murdered people,” he said.
“He has issued directive to the Armed Forces of the Philippines to secure the safety of the citizenry, and to attend to the injured and to provide succor to the families of the victims,” Panelo said.
