President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)-Western Command (WESCOM) commander Lieutenant General Rozzano Briguez as the new commanding general of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) replacing Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar Jr.
According to released appointment paper, the appointment of Briguez is approved effective on the date of signing, December 5.
“I wish to inform you that, per your letter-endorsement and in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Chairman, AFP Board of Generals, pursuant to Republic Act No 8186, as amended, the designation of Lieutenant General Rozzano D Briguez O-9474 Armed Forces of the Philippines as Commanding General, Philippine Air Force vice LTGEN Galileo Gerard R Kintanar Jr. O-9216 is hereby approved effective this date,” President Duterte said in letter addressed to National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on December 5.
According to Secretary Lorenzana, Kintanar, who is set to retire early 2020, is opting to retire early.
