Duterte inspects new equipment, assets of coastguard

Security & Defense

President Rodrigo Duterte inspected some of the new equipment and assets of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) during its 117th anniversary celebration on October 25 at PCG Headquarters in Port Area, Manila.

Among the new equipment and assets the President inspected were firearms, rubber boats, and BRP Panglao (FPB 2402) – one of the four 24-meter Fast Patrol Boat type OCEA FPB72 Mark II from France.

“The PCG’s acquisition of new weapons, equipment and several multi-purpose response vessels and fast patrol boats that are complete with modern computerized systems has indeed helped enhance our law enforcement capabilities,” Duterte said in his speech.

“I urge the entire Philippine Coast Guard to build on its accomplishments and to continue its efforts in upholding our country‟s maritime security,” he added. “More than ever, we need brave men and women like you in safeguarding our seas and shores, especially at this period when our resources are becoming crucial to the progress of our economy.”
