Kalayaan Mayor Roberto del Mundo told the Inquirer that Filipino fishermen are being denied access to sandbar nearest to Pag-asa Island by Chinese boats.

However, Mayor del Mundo noted that there is no harassment being made by Chinese boats.

Pero wala namang harassment,” he added.

He noted that the said sandbar is within 12 nautical miles radius of Pag-asa Island.

He said that those incidents are being reported to the military. “Tapos the following day, makikita mo ‘may [Philippine] plane na, parang nagpapatrol sila. Kino-confirm ‘kung talagang totoo ‘yun (report),” he said.

“Lilipad ‘yung plane, parang tinatawag na MARPAT (maritime patrol),” the Mayor of Kalayaan said..
