Armed Forces increased sea, aerial patrols in 2018

National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said during the 3rd Pre-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Forum at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City on July 17, 2019 that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has increased sea and aerial patrol missions for domain awareness.

In 2018, a total of 90,799 hours was recorded for sea patrols and 7,707 hours for aerial patrols. This is compared to 31,295 hours of sea patrols and 2,440 hours for aerial patrols in 2017.

“The Armed Forces of the Philippines has logged a 190 percent increase in steaming time and 215 percent increase in flying hours to heighten our domain awareness,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

“Ito po ay para paigtingin ang pagbabantay sa ating pambansang teritoryo,” he explained.
