Technical working groups (TWGs) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) have recommended the acquisition of Turkish T129 ATAK for the attack helicopter acquisition project and Black Hawk for the combat utility helicopter (CUH) acquisition project, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said on Friday.

“TWG has come up with the recommendation that the Black Hawk is the best option that they will buy so we will be pursuing that,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

He noted that the around 16 Black Hawks will be for the CUH acquisition project. He added that contract may be signed early 2019.

“The Air Force also chose the ATAK of Turkey,” he said. He added that with the allocated budget for the attack helicopter acquisition project PAF may get less than 10 units.
