38 Suspects for illegal fishing intercepted near Malampaya platform

Philippine Navy vessel BRP Nestor Reinoso (PC 380), operating in Armed Forces of the Philippines Western Command area of responsibility, intercepted a fishing boat with 38 Filipino crew onboard at the vicinity of Malampaya Natural Gas to Power Project (MNGPP) platform on May 4, 2019.

Reports from Joint Task Force Malampaya that reached WESCOM Headquarters stated that while conducting maritime patrol, PC 380 spotted the said boat identified as F/BCA RDA and intercepted it inside the interdiction/neutralization zone from the MNGPP Platform at around 06:00 AM of May 4, 2019.

After inspection of the fishing boat, it was revealed that it has a compressor fishing gears which is being used for illegal fishing. PC 380 brought the boat to Liminangcong Pier, Taytay, Palawan and was properly turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard for proper disposition.
