2 Coast Guard patrol vessels now en route to Batanes

Two Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Parola-class multi-role response vessels (MRRVs) BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) and BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) are now en route to Itbayat, Batanes to deliver relief supplies for victims of earthquake.

On July 31, the PCG said tent frames, tent covers, sleeping kits, laminated sack roles, boxes of canned goods, noodles, bottled water, toiletries, powdered milk, and packs of rice from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary were loaded to the two vessels for the affected residents of the recent earthquake at Itbayat, Batanes.

PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino alerted BRP Malabrigo, BRP Capones, and BFAR’s Multi-Mission Offshore Vessel BRP Francisco Dagohoy (MMOV-5002) to conduct transport mission to Batanes.

“The PCG Commandant also joined the Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur P Tugade and other DOTr officials in the inspection of ports and other transport facilities of the affected areas,” PCG said.


PCG Islander plane was earlier deployed to transport medical doctor teams to assist Department of Health personnel attending to the medical needs of patients affected by the earthquake.
