Panelo to critics: Paano mo nalamang hindi tayo gigiyerahin ng China?

Politics & Governance

Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Salvador Panelo asked the critics of President Rodrigo Duterte’s way of handling maritime dispute with China how did they know China will not wage war if the government will be aggressive in dealing with the dispute.

Bakit tayo maghihintay na giyerahin pa tayo,” Secretary Panelo said during July 1 press briefing.

They become the worse of enemies. The best of friends will become the worst of enemies ‘pag inabuso ng bawat isa ang isa,” he added.

Asked if Chinese President Xi Jinping mentioned “war” during a meeting with President Duterte, Panelo said “somebody doesn’t have to mention war if you really mean war. There are many ways, sabihin mo lang na baka may trouble diyan, di ano pa ba ang ibig sabihin noon.”

If you are looking for trouble, sabi nga ni Elvis Presley, you came to the right place.

“President doesn’t want to risk the lives of our countrymen in disputed waters.
