Malacañang: Dismissal of Peter Lim’s drug case far from being final

Politics & Governance

“On the dismissal of the case against Peter Lim and Kerwin Espinosa – We would like to assure the public that the dismissal is far from being final. It is in fact subject to automatic review by Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre, and we look forward to the review to be made by Secretary Aguirre,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said in today’s press briefing in Malacañang.

“We understand the sentiments and the frustration of the public over the dismissal, but stress that the police can re-file the case, can introduce additional evidence, but we need to be very careful that at this stage, that the evidence would be complete to sustain a conviction when filed before the courts,” he added.

Roque also noted that the DOJ petition as assured to the public will not affect the case of Senator Leila De Lima. “There are other witnesses who would testify against the lady senator,” he said.

The presidential spokesperson said that the Office of the President will take a very interested position and will closely monitor the said case.
