China nalang tayo magpusta, wala tayong laban: Duterte on upcoming FIBA World Cup

President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will be visiting China to have talks regarding West Philippine Sea and to watch a match of Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

“‘Yung arbitral ruling, pagusapan natin ‘yan. That is why I’m going to China. I’m going to China to talk. Did I not tell you before that before my term ends we will be talking about [South] China Sea,” he said during an event for Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) in Malacañang Palace on August 6.

“I’m going there because there are now some sparkles which need to be addressed immediately,” he said.

“Pati may basketball doon ngaun e. FIBA World [Cup], ang problema ang unang kalaban natin Italy. Ang sunod, a wala talo tayo sa (Serbia), walang laban,” he added. “China nalang tayo magpusta.”


“Wala talaga tayo, we will lose dito sa – Italy ang lalaki kaya niyan,” he said. However, the President said the Philippines can beat Angola. He also said that the vice president of China will accompany him in watching a basketball match.

He added that he will also inaugurate a school building built in honor of his mother in a university in Fujian.
