Features in the West Philippine Sea are under Philippine ownership regardless of Chinese structures built on them, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. said in a Twitter post.
“Within our EEZ (exclusive economic zone) so it’s ours. The durability and vintage of the structures don’t matter. Ours,” Secretary Locsin said.
Locsin made the statement in response to a post asking about Philippines’ claim on a feature with Chinese massive structures shown during a routine maritime patrol conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The maritime patrol, which was challenged by the Chinese side, was conducted earlier this week.
