WESCOM chief hold observation flight over West Philippine Sea

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command (WESCOM) commander Vice Admiral Rene V. Medina has visited Antonio Bautista Air Base for an observation flight over the Malampaya and parts of West Philippine Sea.

“The flight was intended for the appreciation of WESCOM’s Leadership with the conduct of Maritime Patrolling utilizing fighter aircraft,” Tactical Operations Wing (TOW) West of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said May 6.

TOW West said that upon arrival at TOG-7 Military Ramp, Vice Admiral Medina was welcomed by the key officers of TOW West headed by Wing Commander Colonel Gerry Felizardo DL Soliven.

“After which, COMWESCOM was usherred at the TOG-7 VIP Lounge for the flight briefing,” TOW West said.

“COMWESCOM on board an AS-211 aircraft with pilot, CPT EDDIE F GALISTE PAF, the Pilot-in-Command, flew towards the Malampaya Deep-water Gas Field and areas of West Philippine Sea for about one and a half hours,” it added.

TOW Wests said “after the flight, COMWESCOM expressed his thanks to the leadership of the Philippine Air Force for the opportunity to experience for the first and last time in his military career a ride on a fighter aircraft.”
