National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has said that the Department of National Defense (DND) is pushing for the acquisition of multi-role fighter aircraft to boost Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s capability in defending territorial airspace.
“Today, at the SANAY DATU Air Defense Exercises, I got to experience actual “flying” aboard an FA-50 jet, our newest lead-in fighter aircraft,” Secretary Lorenzana said in a statement today, May 6.
“This is the most advanced air asset of the Philippine Air Force. I witnessed and experienced first-hand the readiness and dedication of the Philippine Air Force to defend our air space with platforms they have,” he said.
“For our next AFP Modernization projects, we are pushing for the acquisition of multi-role fighter aircraft to boost our capability to defend our territorial airspace,” the DND chief added.
