Vietnam calls on China to ‘immediately’ withdraw survey ship from its EEZ

Vietnam has called on China to immediately withdraw Chinese survey ship group from its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

“As has been repeatedly stated, Vietnam is determined and persistent in protecting sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction as determined and established under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea by peaceful measures on the basis of international law,” Vietnam Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said on July 25.

“With the above goal, Vietnam has had many forms of diplomatic correspondence, giving diplomatic protests to the Chinese side, demanding to immediately withdraw from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone,” the Vietnamese spokesperson said.

The Vietnamese spokesperson noted that all countries within and outside of the region share the common interest in maintaining order, peace and security in the South China Sea.
