United States Navy Nimitz-class supercarrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) is getting a USD91,477,172 upgrade.
This is after US Department of Defense on January 7 announced that it awarded General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. a contract.
“A Dry-docking Planned Incremental Availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship’s military and technical capabilities,” the Pentagon said.
Works for the said upgrade will be conducted in in Portsmouth, Virginia, and is expected to be complete by February 2021.
