US strike group aircraft, Japan training squadron hold exercise in South China Sea

F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter aircraft, under Carrier Air Wing 5, assigned to United States Navy USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) conducted a passing exercise with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) training squadron on July 7 in South China Sea.

The JMSDF training squadron includes of JS Kashima and JS Shimayuki.

USS Ronald Reagan is the flagship of United States Navy forward-deployed Reagan Carrier Strike Group 5 (CSG 5) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan.

According to CSG 5, the strike group is now underway in South China Sea conducting operations in support of a stable and secure Into-Pacific.
