US ships sail through Taiwan Strait

United States Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) and Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE-14) sailed through Taiwan Strait on February 25.

“USS Stethem (DDG 63) and USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE-14) conducted a routine Taiwan Strait transit on Feb. 25, in accordance with international law,” the US Navy Pacific Fleet said.

“The ships’ transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the US commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. The US Navy will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows,” it added.
