US, PHL discuss reserve force, disaster preparedness

United States National Guard Bureau chief General Joseph L. Lengyel made a visit to Philippines on February 5.

He met the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff, Deputy Chief-of-Staff for Reservists and Retirees Affairs, AFP Reserve Command chief, and officials from the Department of National Defense (DND).

The AFP said General Lengyel was accompanied The Adjutant General of Guam National Guard Major General Roderick R Leon Guerrero, National Guard Bureau J5 Major General Michael Taheri, and JUSMAG Philippines chief Colonel Ernest Lee.

“The official visit hosted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines discussed topics related to the AFP Reserve Force, AFP Modernization Program and how the Guam and Hawaii National Guards can contribute to disaster preparedness in enhancing HADR capabilities of the AFP as part of a Senate Partnership Program,” AFP said.
