The United States government, though the Joint United States Military Advisory Group (JUSMAG)-Philippines, has provided 41 rubber boats to Philippine Navy.
The turn over ceremony was held on April 13 at Headquarters Philippine Fleet, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
The turn over was attended by Philippine Fleet commander Rear Admiral Danilo R. Rodelas and JUSMAG-Philippines Chief Maritime Program Navy Commander David R. Wilcox.
“The boats are part of what is called the Zodiac Work-Boat series. The boat of this series is a 13’5” feet with a hull weight of 205 lbs and a maximum capacity of 8 persons or 2028 lbs with 30HP Outboard Motor (OBM),” the Philippine Fleet said.
The Philippine Fleet said the rubber boats will be added to its capability and will be distributed to different navy vessels.
“It will enhance its operational capability especially during Ship to Shore Operations, Special Operations missions, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue Operations in support to the Philippine Navy mission,” it added.
