US donates munitions, launchers to Philippines


The United States government, through visiting US National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien, has transferred today, November 23 precision guided munitions (PGMs) and launchers to the Philippine government to provide counter-terrorism assistance.

The donated defense articles were received by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. in a ceremonial turn over attended by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Undersecretary for Policy, and National Defense Assistant Secretary Teodoro Cirilo T. Torralba III.


“On behalf of President Trump – I am pleased to transfer package of precision guided munitions including 100 TOW 2A missiles, 12 ITAS, 24 Mk 82,” O’Brien said during the ceremony.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said “the delivery of the defense articles is in fulfilment of President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during a phone call in April 2020 in support of the Philippines’ counterterrorism efforts.”
