US destroyer holds live fire drills in Philippine Sea

United States Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) conducted live fire drills in Philippine Sea on March 14.

Among the weapons USS Rafael Peralta fired are Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS), Mark 45 5-inch gun, and M240B machine gun.

“Rafael Peralta is assigned to Task Force 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force,” the US Navy said.

On March 16, USS Rafael Peralta sailed in formation Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), left, and USS Benfold (DDG 65), also in Philippine Sea.
