US carrier strike group shows air power in Pacific Ocean


The United States’ Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, led by nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), has conducted an air power demonstration on February 15 in Pacific Ocean.

Among the capabilities demonstrated were deploying flares and bombs, flying in formation, and air-to-air refueling.

Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 is the embarked airwing aboard USS Nimitz.


Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is deployed conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in US Navy 7th Fleet.

According to US Navy, “as the US Navy’s largest forward-deployed fleet, 7th Fleet routinely operates and interacts with 35 maritime nations while conducting missions to preserve and protect a free and open Indo- Pacific Region.”
