International aviation information provider FlightGlobal reported that Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is eyeing to supply some countries in Asia-Pacific region with its T129 attack helicopter. FlightGlobal interviewed TAI’s vice-president of corporate marketing and communications Tamer Ozmen at the Singapore Airshow 2018.

Ozmen reportedly said that TAI is eyeing Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, and Thailand for T129 supply contracts.

It can be remembered that towards the end of 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned about the acquisition of “attack helicopters”.

“Meron tayong acquisition na 23 attack helicopters. ‘Yun supisyente ‘na ‘yun for rebellion,” he said at Army General Hospital, Headquarters, Philippine Army, Taguig City on November 21, 2017.

“Over the years, if I can build a strong armed forces, pati ‘yung may mga attack helicopters tayo na coming our way, medyo light bombers. ‘Yun naman ang kailangan natin pati ‘yung mga RPG,” President Duterte also said.

Meanwhile, the Department of National Defense (DND) has signed a contract with Bell Helicopter and Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) for the delivery of 16 Bell 412EPI helicopters as combat utility helicopter (CUH) for Philippine Air Force.
