Tunnel boring machines for PHL’s first subway to be presented live from Japan

The actual tunnel boring machines that will be used for Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) will be presented today live from Japan, Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque said September 3.

“Bukas (September 4) ay makikita na natin live from Japan ang actual tunnel boring machines na ipadadala sa Pilipinas. Ito ay gagamitin sa pagpapatayo ng ating Metro Manila Subway,” Roque said.

According to Department of Transportation (DOTr), to be conducted today is a Virtual Media Factory Tour and Factory Acceptance Test of the actual tunnel boring machines expected to arrive in the Philippines by January 2021 while the succeeding will be in February 2021.

DOTr said “the MMSP, together with other mass transport inititaives that are currently underway, is what the DOTr envisions to improve and enhance mobility and connectivity in the country.”

“In fulfilling this dream of having the country’s first-ever subway, we are seizing the moment in every project milestone, to present and take all of you in this historic journey towards change and progress,” DOTr said.
