Transportation Secretary Art Tugade has ordered the immediate patching of potholes discovered upon inspection at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport runway.
The potholes were discovered upon inspection on July 26 after inclement weather in the past couple of weeks, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
DOTr said upon personally inspecting the runway, Secretary Tugade directed to immediately use a new cold patch asphalt technology for all emergency runway repairs to avoid lengthy runway closure.
Tugade noted that the new asphalt technology sets quickly, hardens in one hour—traffic ready, environment-friendly, permanent, and convenient, as it can also be used in all kinds of weather.
“I want this done right away. Procure the materials. Arrange the patching of potholes first. Schedule it at a time that is least inconvenient to the public,” Secretary Tugade said.
