The Philippine Navy welcomed three Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) warships at East Rivera Wharf, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Olongapo City today.
The three Japanese warships: JS Izumo (DDH-183), JS Murusame (DD-101), and JS Akebono (DD-108) are part of JMSDF Escort Flotilla 1.
The warships will stay until July 3 for their goodwill visit.
“This is the third visit of JMSDF ships in the country this year. The first one was JS Ikazuchi in Manila last January and JS Samidarein Subic in May,” the Philippine Navy said.
Prior to their arrival in Subic, BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602) welcomed JMSDF EF1 to Philippine waters during a Meeting Engagement/Bilateral Exercise at the vicinity of Cagayan de Sulu, Tawi Tawi on June 28.
