Taiwan will fight war if needed – foreign minister

“We are willing to defend ourselves without any questions and we will fight the war if we need to fight the war. And if we need to defend ourselves to the very last day we will defend ourselves to the very last day,” Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said on April 7 as quoted by Reuters.

“From my limited understanding of American decision makers watching developments in this region, they clearly see the danger of the possibility of China launching an attack against Taiwan,” Wu added.

The Taiwanese foreign minister made the statement amid reports by Taiwanese Ministry of Defense (MOD) regarding Chinese aircraft conducting activities in Taiwanese ADIZ.

According to Taiwanese MOD, eight J-10, four J-16, one Y-8 ASW, and two KJ-500 AEW&C operated in Taiwanese air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on April 7.

On April 5, Taiwanese MOD reported activities of one Y-8 ASW, one KJ-500 EW&C, four J-16, and four J-10 in Taiwanese ADIZ.
