Fehmi Lassqued alias John Rasheed Lassonedwas, a suspected foreign terrorist personality, was presented by Philippine National Police chief Police Director General (PDG) Ronald dela Rosa during a media briefing today.
Lassqued is a native of Egypt. He was arrested during a joint PNP-Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) counter-terrorism operation over the weekend, the PNP said.
Lassqued was arrested together with his Filipina partner Anabel Moncera Salipada.
“The suspects were arrested at Malate, Manila during a search conducted by operatives of the Regional Police Intelligence Operations Unit (RPIOU) of NCRPO and the AFP Joint Special Operations Group,” PNP said.
PNP said the couple were “promptly placed under arrest upon the discovery of assorted firearms, ammunition and components for Improvised Explosive Device (IED) such as electronic circuits, resistors, capacitors, batteries, and pipe fittings.”
“Lassqued, who carried a Tunisian passport is believed to be a member of an international terrorist organization,” PNP added. “A thorough investigation is now underway to determine the extent of their involvement with international and domestic threat groups.”
