Stray dog instrumental in rescue of abandoned newborn baby

A stray dog was instrumental in the rescue of a newborn boy at a garbage dump site at Magcagong in Sibonga, Cebu on December 24.

According to Sibonga Police Station Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), the newborn boy “was allegedly found by a motorcycle driver (Junrell Fuentes Revilla) who accordingly was guided by a black dog barking [at] him while he was driving his motorcycle at the said place and led him to the dumpsite hence to the discovery of the newborn baby boy wrapped with a brown towel with the placenta being placed on a black plastic.”

The newborn baby was brought around 11 am to Deiparine Community Hospital which notified the said police station.

“Said baby boy is now safe from harm and danger at the said hospital and Sibonga MSWDO (Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office) is now looking after the welfare of the baby,” Sibonga WCPD said.
