Soldiers rescue 88-year-old lady, infant

Soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 36th Infantry Battalion with the help of civilians successfully rescued Epifania Iligan, an 88-year-old lady, resident of Brgy Pautao, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte on February 13.

Also, an infant was rescued by troops of 30th Infantry Battalion’s Charlie Company under 1Lt Dario Amaranto at Brgy Luna, Surigao City.

“An 88-yr old lady, Epifania Iligan was trapped inside her house during the height of Typhoon “Basyang” in Brgy Pautao, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte,” the 4th Infantry Division of Philippine Army said.

“Private First Class Pendatun Tagbe and Private Adrian Hapin of 36th Infantry Battalion with the populace of the said Brgy quickly swam to rescue her, they even thought she was already dead,” the 4ID said.

“Luckily, she was able to make it and was rushed immediately to the hospital,” it added.
