Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has introduced a fresh bill seeking to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise to construct, install, operate, and maintain television and radio broadcasting stations.
The senate president filed the bill under Senate Bill No. 1967 today, January 4.
“ABS-CBN is the Philippines’ largest entertainment and media network operating various platforms including domestic television, radio networks, worldwide OTT, and online platforms,” Senator Sotto said in his explanatory note.
“ABS-CBN’s wide reach to Filipinos, alongside with the undeniable advantages of broadcast media relative to mass communication, definitely calls for the immediate renewal of network’s franchise,” he added.
