According to DOTr, Secretary Tugade aims to dedicate and commit himself to fully support and assist the PCG in fulfilling its mandate.

“I know and I can feel that it is because of your Patriotism, Compassion and Fear of God that you are able to perform and perform, far and beyond what is expected of you,” Secretary Tugade said.

“PCG. Patriotism, Compassion, God-fearing. Ito yung Philippine Coast Guard. Eto ho yung Philippine Coast Guard na gusto kong saniban. Eto ‘ho yung kadahilanan kung bakit nandidito ‘ho kami ngayon,” he explained.

DOTr noted that after the donning of ranks and oathtaking ceremony, PCG commandant Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. led the presentation of awards to the PCG rescuers, for the invaluable service they have shown and given, amid the onslaught of the recent super typhoons.
