Sailors, Marines recognized for securing West Philippine Sea islands, reefs

The Philippine Navy’s Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST) has conducted a ceremony to recognize sailors and Marines who just completed 3 to 4 months of duty at Philippine military detachments in West Philippine Sea.


NAVFORWEST said the “simple awarding ceremony” was held on May 20 at Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon, Bgy. San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City.

It noted that the sailors and Marines completed their deployment at detachments in Pag-asa, Likas, Rizal Reef, Lawak, Patag and Parola Islands, all part of Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in West Philippine Sea.
